GLASGOW UNIVERSITY ARCHIVES
Dear Principal,

I am now authorised to offer to the College
of Glasgow, at Valuation, the whole of the late Dr.. Walker Arnott's
Botanical Collection consisting of his Botanical LIbrary Herbarium
including cases and presses _ Collection of [Diatons] with the cases and
Books which refer to them _ Drawings, including those at the College
used by him in his lectures, and his Portraits (Engravings) of
 Botanical men._
Dr. Arnott in his Will only alludes to his
Botanical drawings and dried plants to be offered, but the Trustees,
on the recommendation of Dr Hooker, one of their number, as well as
Dr. Cleghorn. have resolved to offer the whole, as from the many
references in the Books to other portions of the Collection, the Collection
as a while was in consequence more interesting and valuable, and
that it would be a pity that the Collection should be disposed of in
portions.)
If the College should, however, not desire to
take the whole I shall be glad to be informed what portion they would desire._ The Collection ca be seen at 2 Victoria Terrace the late DrArnotts
residence._
I may repeat that payment of the price to
be fixed I have no doubt that can be arranged to stout the convenience
of the College._

        I remain Dear Principal,
 Yours faithfully
        [J.] Barclay
